EPIDEMIOLOGY

Identifying disease in the community through active case screening and surveillance. We conduct integrated mobile campaigns at sites where community members gather and are screened by a clinical team for all common diseases including Kala-azar and malaria via rapid diagnostic test kits. Common ailments are treated by the clinical team and cases of leishmaniasis are linked to the treatment center for care. Detailed sociodemographic and location data are collected for all cases to allow follow up based on standard national protocols. Regular disease surveillance is critical to identifying case distribution in the region and map out transmission hotspots.
